Welcome Back to the World of Limericks

There was a faith-healer of Deal
Who said: "Although pain isn't real,
If I sit on a pin,
And it punctures my skin,
I dislike what I fancy I feel."

The Activities

In this issue, for the kids, there's another each of the Limerick Word Search, Limerick Crossword Puzzle, and Limerick Scramble.

And you grown-ups have an activity that goes right back to the limerick craze of 1907 :)

Then there's Part Three of our How To on writing your own limericks.

And finally ...

Two creatures, both ending in saurus,
Tyranno and Stego in chorus,
Are feeling much duller
Without any colour,
But wanting to sparkle before us.

All the activities are contained in this pdf (just right-click the link to download).

You can also do the Crossword Puzzle and the Word Search online at the Kidsbooke website, if you choose. This link will take you to the online page.

Fun Fact

The first ever book of "limericks" was published in 1820. It was called The History of Sixteen Wonderful Old Women. You can read all 16 verses here:

The History of Sixteen Wonderful Old Women

It was a very short book. Short books of poems are called "chap books".
