Welcome to the World of Limericks

And who doesn't love them? They're short, quick, accessible and funny.

There was an old man of Peru,
Who dreamt he was eating his shoe.
He woke in the night
With a terrible fright,
And found it was perfectly true.

The Activities

In this issue, for the kids, there's a Limerick Word Search, a Limerick Crossword Puzzle, and Limerick Scrambles.

But I've got you grown-ups covered, too,
with another activity just for you :)

Then there's Part One of a How To on writing your own limericks.

Why write your own limericks? Because it's fun, absorbing, satisfying, and it increases your knowledge - you learn so much looking for that one perfect, rhyming word. :)

And then ...

Then at last you can straighten your backs with
A sigh, from the work you've been taxed with;
So your mind can run free
With a twiddle-de-dee,
There's a colouring sheet to relax with.

Actually, there are two :)

All the activities are contained in this pdf (just right-click the link to download).

You can also do the Crossword Puzzle and the Word Search online at the Kidsbooke website, if you choose. This link will take you to the online page.

Fun Fact

Fool is the name of a cold dessert (pureed fruit with cream or custard).

There was an Old Person of Leeds,
Whose head was infested with beads;
She sat on a stool
And ate gooseberry-fool,
Which agreed with that Person of Leeds.
